Horary Astrology: Free Reading – “Will My Enemy Go to Jail?”

hopeinprisonofdespair Horary Astrology: Free Reading – “Will My Enemy Go to Jail?”

Horary Astrology Question:

My enemy is a cop. For years he has stalked me and had others help him; they included members of my own family. Now he has been caught on tape threatening the life of another cop. This pleases me because I made the same claim several years ago, but was ignored and ridiculed. What’s going to happen?

—K.

Nina Gryphon:

Dear K.,

Thank you for writing to me. I cast a horary chart for the time that I understood your question, and the horoscope is below:

enemygotojail1 Horary Astrology: Free Reading – “Will My Enemy Go to Jail?”

Because he is your open enemy, the cop gets the seventh house. Its ruler is Venus in the sign of its fall, Virgo. This can indicate that he is indeed a baddie; because Venus is essentially a benefic planet, he may look good on the outside but is rotten on the inside. A planet in the sign of its fall can show the person is already in jail – presumably, he is not yet in jail. So the bad state of Venus can only be a comment on his nature.

At first glance, it may seem that he is going to get off scot free. This is because Venus is retrograde and will soon enter Leo, where it is not nearly as afflicted as it is in Virgo. However, before Venus can escape into Leo, it will run into a square aspect with Mars. Here, Mars rules the 12th house (turned) of your enemy, and the 12th house rules imprisonment. So he is trying hard to get out of trouble, and for a while it may seem as though he will escape, but he will go to jail after all.

musicians Free Astrology Reading: Horary Astrology – Should I Sue or Settle?

Horary Question:

A major music artist has recreated parts of my music in two of his songs. He also copied my conceptual theme on his cover and used a similar theme in his lyrics.

I have written his manager twice and have received a denial twice. I have discovered very good links of access. I cannot afford the high cost of an attorney and am considering representing myself.

My third communication to them will be a bill for my services rendered for a reasonable amount based on the circumstances.

Should I push towards reaching an out of court settlement or just file in federal court for a judgement?

—A.

Nina Gryphon:

Dear A.,

Thank you for such an interesting and serious question. Before we get started, you should know that on this blog, I can only advise you as an astrologer, not an attorney. First, I am sorry to hear about what happened to you; from what I understand, this kind of behavior is rampant in the musical industry. Too, major artists have so much more money and legal firepower behind them that less powerful plaintiffs are at a huge disadvantage, regardless of the merits of their case.

But, let’s get to your chart. I cast a horary chart for the time that I understood your question. The horary chart for your question is below:

sueorsettle Free Astrology Reading: Horary Astrology – Should I Sue or Settle?

You are represented by the ruler of the first house of self, the Sun, and your co-significator is the Moon. The other side is represented by the ruler of the seventh house of opponents, Saturn.

First, let us see whether you will be able to settle with the artist out of court. I take it as a favorable sign that Saturn is in the first house, and your power, as it were. We also note that Saturn is in its detriment in Leo, which can show that this other person is seriously in the wrong. Unfortunately, cases are not always decided on right and wrong.

We see that the Sun is about to square Saturn, which indicates that you will likely go to court, but will reach settlement before the verdict will be handed down. The fact that the first and seventh houses are ruled by fixed signs, and each of your significators being in a fixed sign, indicates that an out-of-court settlement before a lawsuit is filed is rather unlikely. Both parties insist on their rights, and will have it no other way.

I suspect that after the suit is filed (sooner or later, hopefully sooner), the defendant will see the writing on the wall and choose to settle. This is because we see the verdict, ruled by the fourth house of the end of the matter, harming the defendant. The planet in question is Venus, and it is about to move from Gemini into the detriment of Saturn, Cancer.

One final word: as far as representing yourself, you should give it a try, but be open to hiring a lawyer when and if necessary. You may be a very savvy plaintiff, of course, but I am concerned that you may find yourself somewhat outgunned by major label lawyers. Good luck, and please keep me posted.

Free Astrology Advice – Horary Astrology: Will We Win the Lawsuit? My Mother’s Health Improve?

October 10, 2006 by

freehoraryastrologyadvicelawsuithealthlucy Free Astrology Advice Horary Astrology: Will We Win the Lawsuit? My Mother’s Health Improve?

Question:

My mother was severely injured by taking a pharmaceutical drug and is now involved in a lawsuit against the drug’s manufacturer, the outcome of which will have worldwide consequences that affect justice and health concerns for many people.

Initially, my mother was in excellent health in her 60′s. She started taking a popular medication for minor health concerns and took it until it was removed from the market. Before taking the drug my mother was a popular, sociable, well-situated woman who had just received an incredible offer to take over a major entertainment industry talent agency.

Immediately after starting the medication, my mother quickly deteriorated into a bedridden recluse riddled with multiple bizzare health problems and severe personality/mental changes and deterioration. We never heard of the medication or it being a problem and sadly thought our mother was just suffering a horrible “old age” and her medical professionals did not indicate anything different. None of these health problems ran in our family which made it all the more puzzling.

In about late 2002 my mother went into a coma and we were told she would die. Eventually she woke up, but remains disabled mentally and physically.

I’d like to know if astrology offers any insights as to the possible outcome of the lawsuit and my mother’s health?

—D.

Nina Gryphon:

The first thing I would like to say, D., is how heart-wrenching your situation sounds. I think all of us can imagine a loved parent in the same situation, the heartbreak of which is compounded by the fact that the injury was caused not by accident, but by cynical disdain bred of commercial greed.

I set a horary chart for the moment I understood your question, using this ancient method that was used at least since the time of the Greeks. One advantage of this method is that it provides a clear and succinct summary of the situation, and provides a quick prognosis. It is especially useful when a person’s birth time is not known or is in doubt. The horary chart is below:

freehoraryastrologyadvicelawsuithealthmother Free Astrology Advice Horary Astrology: Will We Win the Lawsuit? My Mother’s Health Improve?

First, I’m going to analyze the likely outcome of the lawsuit. Your mother is shown by Jupiter, ruler of the 10th house of mothers. How is Jupiter? Not so good; Jupiter is peregrine at 16 Scorpio, and it is in the malefic eighth house. The opponents are shown by the Moon, which is in Leo and about to conjoin Saturn in Leo. Generally, an applying conjunction to the planet as malefic as Saturn in its detriment, shows harm coming to the person in question. In the lawsuit, seeing your opponents run into a nasty Saturn is a good thing.

The Moon’s most recent aspect has been a square to Jupiter, significator of your mother. This can show the possibility of settlement out of court, because the aspect is in the past, it may be that the drug company has attempted to settle, but you rejected their overtures. The other possibility is that it shows settlement is such a sure thing it may as well be done. The fact that the two planets are coming together with a square shows that any settlement talks will be attended with difficulty, and may well break down because Jupiter is in the fall of the Moon; the plaintiffs intensely dislike the defendants here.

If the lawsuit will be decided judicially, which seems less likely, but still possible if you reject the company’s offer, we need to look at whom the judge and jury will favor. The judge/jury is shown by the 10th from the 10th, so the radical seventh house. The ruler of the seventh house is Mercury in Libra. Whomever Mercury prefers will win the lawsuit. Note that this has very little to do with who is in the right legally or morally. As we learned in law school, judges always vote their breakfast. In Libra, Mercury does not care either for you or for the defendant. This may indicate a so-so verdict for you, one in which you will either lose or win. Let us see what the verdict shows, to see the effects of the outcome.

The verdict is shown by Mars, the sign following the fourth house from the 10th, showing the end of the matter. Mars is in 7 Libra, where it is in the face (a minor dignity) of the Moon, so shows the verdict would slightly favor defendants. However, not by much. It rather looks as though the outcome of the lawsuit will punt the decision to a different decision maker, such that no one will have lost or won this round. Such an outcome would favor the pharmaceutical company simply because delay always works in the defendant’s favor here. It may be worthwhile to settle, though such settlements are typically confidential, so few people beyond the plaintiffs would benefit.

You also asked about your mother’s health. This is a good point at which to note that I am not a doctor, and that you should always follow her doctor’s guidance first and foremost. I am concerned that her health may deteriorate from here on out. The reason for this is twofold. First, we see that the Moon has separated from Jupiter (your mother) and is about to conjoin Saturn in detriment in Leo. This does not bode well for her overall health, as Saturn by itself is a malefic planet, and in detriment it is much worse. Here, the Moon picks up Jupiter and carries it, as it were, to Saturn. This is called a translation of light, because the Moon carries the influence of one planet to another, like a messenger.

Further, Venus in its fall in Virgo is about to sextile Jupiter. Here, Venus acts as an accidental malefic. Though Venus by itself is a good planet, even a good planet can be very harmful when it is in its detriment or fall, as it is here. The fact that the aspect in question is a sextile, shows that the contact will come easily. In this situation, this is not good, because it shows that the bad thing in question will easily occur. Venus rules two malefic houses in this horoscope; one is the turned sixth house of illness, and the other is the radical eighth house of death. I would finally note the negative mutual reception between Jupiter and Venus; Jupiter is in the detriment of Venus, while Venus is in the detriment of Jupiter; your mom and this negative thing hate each other. Either way, I think it would be be a good idea to stay very alert and aware of any changes in your mom’s condition in the near future.

Spiritual Work

I am a firm believer in the effectiveness of spiritual work when it comes to disputes and legal matters. I think the reason that it works so well is that one has very specific, known people on whom to focus one’s energies; the defendants and the judge/jury. Depending on what you want to achieve, you can accomplish a great deal with relatively little. In the world of spiritual work, court case spiritual work commands a premium, because the stakes are so high, and the work itself is so lengthy.

However, there is a lot that a person can do to help themselves. Probably the best thing to do to begin with is to sweeten the judge or the jury toward your cause. You can also do this if you want a settlement with the other party. The way to do this is to use a honey jar, into which you can put your name and the judge’s name written together on a piece of paper. If you can get something of the judge’s, even just their handwriting, add that as well to strengthen the psychic link. You then create a mental command that summarizes your need, such as “favor my cause, give me total victory over the defendant,” and focus on that as you burn candles a few times a week on the lid of the closed honey jar. You can see that this kind of work takes a long time, so it takes focus, dedication, and giftedness.

For this kind of work, I find it very helpful to use herbs and oils known for their efficacy in court case work. You can dress the candle with an herbal oil, which is made from herbs known to be helpful in court case matters. You can also add such herbs to the main paper that goes into the jar. The idea of all this is to focus your energy and intent on one single-minded goal for a long period of time. Too, if you’re gifted for this kind of work, the combination is unbeatable.

Free Astrology Advice – Horary Astrology: Will We Win the Lawsuit?

freeastrologyadvicelawsuitlawyer Free Astrology Advice Horary Astrology: Will We Win the Lawsuit?

Question:

Will my husband get back the money he invested? My husband invested a lot of money in a business with two partners. Now one of the partners has taken the whole business in her hand and is running the business as if she is the whole and sole of the business – she does not consult the other partners and does not also give the accounts. She has hired family members who all draw large salaries, while the other two partners have yet to receive a penny from the business. The other two partners (including my husband) have now taken solicitor’s advice and have filed suit against her. Do you think we will win the case ?

S.

Nina Gryphon:

Dear S.,

As a lawyer, I like getting questions about lawsuits, perhaps because I “get” what you’re asking. There is still nothing like real world experience to understand an astrological chart on a given topic.

As always, I have set a horary chart, which is a horoscope for the moment I understood your question. The idea behind horary charts is that the answer to your question is contained in the moment of the question. There is some deep philosophical reasoning behind this, but I won’t get into that here yet. In any case, it is a very old method, and works quite reliably.

Let us take a look at the horoscope:

freeastrologyadvicelawsuit Free Astrology Advice Horary Astrology: Will We Win the Lawsuit?

In this horoscope, you are shown by Venus in Virgo in the 11th house. Your opponent is shown by the opposite house, the seventh, and its ruler, Mars in Libra, in the 12th house. Before we get into who will win, I wanted to offer a few observations that may help you decide on the next steps in this lawsuit.

Your opponent thinks you’re going to win. This is because Mars, the planet showing your opponent, is in Venus’s sign — and you are Venus. This is an excellent indication that you may want to press for settlement, especially before you start shelling out serious attorney fees. Because Venus is in Virgo, it is very interested in whatever Mercury signifies. Mercury shows the other party’s money, so, as you indicated, you are very interested in getting your hands on it. How is the money? Just recently, Mercury left Virgo, where it was in its sign and exaltation. There used to be a lot of money, but now Mercury is in Libra, and it is Peregrine, with no essential dignity. There is not a lot of money left, and you may be looking at what is called in the United States “a judgment proof” defendant. The other problem is that Mercury is applying to conjoin Mars, showing the defendant’s money going to the defendant, not you.

Let us take a look at what the judge/jury thinks. After all, that is an excellent indication of who is going to win. The decision-maker is the 10th house, which year is ruled by the moon in Gemini in the eighth house. How is the moon? It is Peregrine, without any dignity. Unfortunately, you only got a so-so judge. He’s not totally corrupt, but hardly a brilliant legal mind. The moon in Gemini does not care for Venus at all, and slightly favors Mars. So far, the judgment looks indifferent between the two of you.

Finally, we need to look at the verdict. The verdict is the fourth house, which in this chart is ruled by Saturn in Leo in the 10th house. Saturn in Leo has just moved out of Venus’s term, into Mars’s face. This gives us an inkling that the verdict will not favor either side strongly, though it will slightly benefit the defendant. However, we also see that the moon (the judge) has just separated from Venus, and will now sextile Saturn (the verdict). On its face, this shows an outcome favoring the plaintiff. Very likely, then, the verdict will superficially favor the plaintiff, but in reality will not do much to help her situation. It could well be, that this is because it will be very difficult to get any real money out of the defendant at the end of the day.

That Something Extra in Astrology

August 16, 2006 by

43justic That Something Extra in Astrology

After a brief but relaxing hiatus, the blog is back with all sorts of deep-thinking ideas to stimulate your astrological nerve endings. —Gryphon AKA Nina

Can a merely competent astrologer ever become a great astrologer? Or, to put another spin on the issue, what distinguishes a cook who can whip up a reasonably tolerable and theoretically correct soufflé from one whose soufflé takes you to transcendent gastronomic heights and leaves you begging for more? This has been an issue that has puzzled me for quite some time, as I know many very competent modern and traditional astrologers, those practicing horary astrology, electional astrology and natal astrology, ones who are very familiar with astrological terminology, give clients astrological answers which are often right, at least in a general sense, and in all other respects have done their homework.

As a completely unscientific theory backed only by empirical evidence, I propose that in any given field, including but not limited to astrology (traditional astrology or modern astrology) the twenty percent rule applies. Thus, roughly twenty percent of astrologers can be said to have a good, solid technical command of their respective astrological fields, and they have put in the years of study and practice to make them the best they could humanly become. The question I wish to address in this article is: What distinguishes the very competent twenty percent from the ultra-amazing one percent?

Lest we get lost in a maze of fuzzy definitions (which, I confess, I use in abundance), let us look at this ultra-amazing one percent. I have this stubborn tendency, perhaps born of studying too much pragmatic traditional astrology, to define the quality of an astrologer based on the results he gets, rather than on the number of talks he gives, or the number of brightly-colored books he churns out. In my necessarily limited sample, I have found that the one-percenters are often not just right, they tend to be spectacularly right in their astrological predictions. They can often be recognized posthumously (which is too late for most of us), not based on the number of glowing eulogistic articles written about them, but by talking to their former clients and associates, who acknowledge that in losing that person, the world has lost a great astrologer.

Like any other group at the top of their field, the astrological one-percenters are both born and made. However, from a traditional natal astrological perspective, we can often locate several indicators of “specialness,” showing us that the person will really get somewhere. The more and starker indicators one has, the better, since we are dealing with degrees of goodness, rather than discrete steps from one level to another.

My rough guidelines are as follows:

  1. Pre-natal eclipse indicators (the more and the stronger, the better)
  2. The fixed stars on important points (royal fixed stars are great, but any fixed stars appropriate to the person’s field are extremely helpful as well)
  3. The Moon and/or Mercury strong and engaged (we are talking about a skill here, so the innate intelligence is important)
  4. Something good going on with Fortuna, and
  5. Astrological evidence of the willingness to make an effort. This is important, as the world is littered with people with astrological (or any other) talent, but with no willingness to put in the hard work needed to rise to the top. Having a melancholic temperament, for example, can be helpful. Lots of fixed signs are not bad, either. A little Saturn, a dash of Mars can be good as well, provided they are in helpful condition.

Example Astrological Natal Chart – Robert Shapiro

Now, I will not use the chart of an astrologer, either as an example of being spectacularly great or really terrible, for the obvious reasons that opinions may differ and egos are notoriously fragile creatures. Rather, I will use the natal astrological chart of a well-known American lawyer, Robert Shapiro, perhaps the best known for his representation of O.J. Simpson in his murder trial. Shapiro is considered a very skilled and talented lawyer, detail-oriented, and 100% committed to his clients. For a trial lawyer, he has managed to remain relatively uncontroversial and well-liked. When his young son was found dead of a drug overdose in October 2005, the death drew many heartfelt condolences from the general public.

robertshapirochart That Something Extra in Astrology

Let us step through the above astrological criteria one by one:

  1. Prenatal eclipse contacts? Yes. The preceding lunar total eclipse has Shapiro’s natal Moon on the eclipse Ascendant. In the natal astrological chart, the Moon is in the 9th house of the law and higher learning, and rules the 11th house of money from the career. Too, Shapiro’s natal Ascendant is right on the eclipse Mercury in Virgo. In his natal astrological chart, Mercury is in the 1st house, which it rules, along with the 10th house of career. We can immediately discern that this person is going to have a successful career, of the Lunar or Mercurial sort. Being a popular trial lawyer certainly satisfies both counts.
  2. Fixed stars? Yes. Shapiro has Denebola on his prominently positioned Mars in his natal chart. Denebola is of the nature of Saturn and Venus, and according to Robson “gives swift judgment, despair, regrets, public disgrace, misfortune from the elements of nature, and happiness turned to anger, and makes its natives noble, daring, self-controlled, generous and busy with other people’s affairs.” The last seems especially apropos for a lawyer, doesn’t it? Though with Mars, the star can give fall from power and grace.

Alnitak, of the nature of Jupiter and Saturn, is on the MC, giving a powerful astrological testimony of both skill and luck. Robson says: Strength, energy, industry, organizing abilities, notoriety, good fortune, lasting happiness, a sharp mind and a good memory.

Moon and Mercury strong and engaged? Both are engaged from the previous eclipse, and Mercury is especially strong. Not terribly powerful essentially, but strongly placed and dispositing 5 planets in the chart. The Moon is not as helpful, but we know it will be very important due to the pre-natal placement regardless.

  2. Something good going on with Fortuna? Yes. Dispositor is Mercury in the first house, not aspecting Fortuna, however. Angular Mars aspects Fortuna, and also receives great support from a very strong Jupiter in the 10th house. We can see that the business associates and clients will be very beneficial to the native’s fortune, which will come primarily from his career. Easy!
  3. Evidence of hard work? Yes. The temperament is predominantly melancholic; certainly very dry, and tending toward cold. This person can definitely work hard. We have already established that we have a strong Mars, showing a good drive, though Saturn is not bad, it is not as great as we would like. So we get an ambitious, hard-working type, which bodes well for success.
