Celebrity Astrology: Will Harry Potter Live or Die?

Last summer, J.K. Rowling announced that Harry Potter himself may die in the last installment of the Harry Potter series. I cast a horary chart to see whether this would, in fact, happen:

ifharrypotterdies Celebrity Astrology: Will Harry Potter Live or Die?

Harry, being “any old person” to me, is shown by the 7th house of other people. He is ruled by the Lord of the 7th house, Jupiter, which is in Scorpio. The two planets that can signify death are Mars and Venus, representing the turned and radical 8th houses of death. Jupiter’s next aspect will be a sextile by Mars, which is also in Jupiter’s detriment. So Harry will come in contact with death, and it will harm him.

The Arabian Part of Death, calculated from the 7th house as the ascendant (since it’s Harry’s death we are asking about), is at 14.3 Capricorn. Its ruler is a very nasty Saturn that is in its detriment, combust, and in the malefic 12th house of witchcraft. Whew! We notice that the Sun has just squared Jupiter and is about to conjoin Saturn, remaking the aspect between the two planets.

The Moon’s next aspect will be a square to Saturn – most likely, the Moon here is the general “flow of events,” so things are not going to go so well.

Despite the strong evidence to the contrary, I find it hard to believe that Harry may actually die. This is children’s literature, after all! My one faint hope is that the sextile (a weaker aspect as compared against a trine, for instance) between Mars and Jupiter is not strong enough to perform, and Harry will escape by a hair. We’ll see in July, when the book comes out.

Celebrity Astrology: Horoscope of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte

younggeneral Celebrity Astrology: Horoscope of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte

The 91-year-old former dictator of Chile died Sunday of heart disease complications. His is an interesting horoscope, and one that is somewhat difficult for me to examine. As someone who grew up in Eastern Europe, the sight of Chilean leftist refugees from Pinochet’s regime is not unknown to me. The terror he wreaked on Chile is undeniable.

augustopinochetugartehoroscope Celebrity Astrology: Horoscope of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte

The extreme coldness of the temperament is immediately apparent. In particular, Mercury in Scorpio in the sixth house is downright icy, a fact not helped by its contacts with several very cold planets in cold signs. This is not a warm and cuddly creature we are dealing with here. Disposited by a relative weak Mars in Leo, this Mercury does not indicate a man overflowing with the milk of human kindness.

The prenatal eclipse on August 15, 1915, closely squared the natal Sun, bringing it to the forefront, as it were. The Sun is very important for honor and achievement, so just that bit of information can tell us here is someone destined for something greater.

Jupiter rules the Midheaven (it may, in fact, be Mars, he was born just after 7:30 p.m.). There are no planets in the 10th house of profession, so will have to look primarily at Jupiter, and its aspects. Jupiter is in its own sign Pisces in the ninth house, which does not evoke a military man, so much as a cleric. This is one reason I believe that in fact it may be Mars that rules the 10th house. But we have to work with what we’ve got before us.

Jupiter is very strong and is trine by Moon in Cancer in the second house, which is also very strong because it is in its own domicile; it also exalts Jupiter, further strengthening the tie between the two planets. So we see that the career is going to be very successful and highly lucrative. However, all is not well here. The Moon is also conjunct Saturn in its detriment in Cancer. Whenever the malefics (especially ones as badly dignified as this one) afflict a good configuration like this Moon trine Jupiter, we can say that the career will succeed through evil means, and/or the public standing will end in disgrace.

Jupiter is also square Venus in the seventh house, showing partners, and open enemies. The two planets are in strong mutual reception. Incidentally, Venus is in a terrible mutual reception with Lord of the ascendant, Mercury. There is a strong sense that the native will continually battle his enemies, and both he and his career will be defined by his antagonism with them.

Finally, Jupiter trines that frozen Mercury, Lord of the ascendant. Jupiter, being in Pisces, is in the detriment in fall of Mercury; the career will hurt the man. One cannot help but conclude that Pinochet’s love of power (Lord 10) and money from office (Mercury in sign of Lord 11) did not do good for his soul.

Celebrity Astrology: Mark Foley’s Fall from Grace in His Horoscope

horoscopemarkfoleyfallen Celebrity Astrology: Mark Foley’s Fall from Grace in His Horoscope

As we all try to recover from the shock of learning about Mark Foley’s predilection for underage boys, it occurred to me to take an astrological look at what was going on with Foley’s horoscope at the time of his resignation on September 29. I’ve always been very interested in the indications of a fall from grace, especially for people, like Foley, who ascended rather rapidly.

We have to remember when we look at horoscope that the average person lives about 75 years. Therefore, very few of the things we see in the horoscope are statically determined. We can see both an ascent to fortune, as well as a decline in fortune, all in the same life. For some people, this happens more than once. I believe this is the case for Mark Foley, whom I would expect to have a fairly dramatic chart. We would expect to see great benefits on the one hand, and serious problems on the other.

Mark Foley was born on September 8, 1954, in Newton, Massachusetts. Because we are looking at his public life, we will use the chart set for noon time. As I have demonstrated and explained on this blog, such as with the horoscope of Steve Irwin, these charts are highly suitable and highly accurate when you look at the public aspects of a person’s life.

Mark Foley’s horoscope is below:

markfoleyhoroscope Celebrity Astrology: Mark Foley’s Fall from Grace in His Horoscope

Because we are looking at Mark Foley’s career, we will focus primarily on the 10th house of fame and career. The ruler of the 10th house is Mercury in Libra, on the verge of entering the 11th house. This is considered a very benefic placement, as the 11th house is considered extremely positive, but Mercury itself is Peregrine, and therefore without dignity. As a result, all by itself, Mercury will not give very much fame, or the fame it does give will not be altogether positive.

The cause for fame will be Venus in Scorpio, which rules Mercury’s sign, Libra. Venus is in its detriment in Scorpio, and it is conjunct Saturn, a malefic planet in Scorpio. The causes for fame will be bad ones, in general. And indeed, whenever Mark Foley entered the national newspapers in a big way, it was always about his sexuality, and rumors flew about his sexual orientation as early as 1996. By 2003, Foley aborted a political campaign because of increasing evidence indicating he was gay, which did not mesh with his conservative image. It should not come as a surprise that Venus and Saturn are in the 12th house of self-undoing, secrets and hidden enemies.

Claudius Ptolemy, about 2000 years ago, wrote some choice phrases describing the sexual preferences of people with Venus-Saturn combinations. However, I am sure many people have Venus conjunct Saturn without preying on children; though no doubt Venus in detriment, Saturn Peregrine, and Mars sextile that whole mess does not help matters.

If we look at Mark Foley’s progressions for 2006, we will notice that his progressed ascendant entered Capricorn this summer, the sign ruled by Saturn conjunct Venus in the 12th house. The terms of the signs are especially important in progressions, and we see that in entering Capricorn, the ascendant also entered the terms of that detrimented Venus in Scorpio. Given that it takes 20 to 30 years for the Ascendant to go through a sign, its change of signs often portends an important time. Since Saturn and Venus are so debilitated in Foley’s natal horoscope, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Mark Foley’s solar return for 2006 does not look auspicious, either. Mercury is cadent in the third house, from where it cannot do much good, though it is in its exaltation and sign in Virgo. The solar return ruler of the 10th house of fame is Mars, in its detriment in Libra in the fourth house. The moon, ruler of the first house opposes Mercury from Pisces, the sign of Mercury’s detriment and fall. This shows that Foley will be the author of his own fall from fame.

Celebrity Astrology: Wealth in the Horoscope – When Would He Acquire Wealth?

horoscopewealthcardinal Celebrity Astrology: Wealth in the Horoscope When Would He Acquire Wealth?

Yesterday, we looked at the potential of wealth in a famous person’s horoscope. In the natal chart of Cardinal Richelieu, we saw that his second house Mars and to a lesser degree, 10th house Venus, would contribute to his great wealth. Given that Cardinal Richelieu was born into the minor nobility, there was likely already some amount of money in the family (do we do not know just how much), so when we see the great increase in wealth that his chart shows, we know that on an objective scale, he will end up quite wealthy.

So then, if the Cardinal came to us as a client, he would of course want to know when this wealth was likely to materialize. We already know from our examination of Cardinal Richelieu’s horoscope yesterday, that his wealth would come through his own efforts, and through royalty, specifically the Queen. It now remains to be seen at what time these influences would be most active in his life.

We can use the old Arabic system of triplicity rulers, also sometimes known as the Dorothean triplicities. The list of the Dorothean triplicities is on the Gryphon Astrology website, in the ancient text section. We look at the triplicity rulers of the Cardinal’s second house, using the order of the triplicity rulers given. The order given is: Venus, Mars, and the moon. We can thus divide the Cardinal’s life into three thirds. We know the first third will be ruled by Venus, the second third by Mars, and the last third by the moon. It is quite convenient when the chief significator of wealth appears as one of the three triplicity rulers, as it does here. Since we have determined that Mars signifies wealth for the Cardinal, we can safely say that his wealth (and the greatest increase in wealth) will come during the second third of his life.

Thus the wealth in the first third of his life will be pretty good, because it is ruled by an angular and elevated Venus. However, Venus does not have much essential dignity in 3° of Leo, so we know that while the Queen will be helpful in setting Richelieu on the right career path (10th house), and he will do fairly well financially as a result, the real wealth will not arrive until the second third of his life, ruled by the essentially and accidentally strong Mars in Scorpio on the ascendant.

The last third of his life will still be okay, wealth wise, but nowhere near the levels seen during the second third of his life. In his natal horoscope using the Placidus house system, the moon rules the Cardinal’s ninth house of faith, religion, and the Church. How is the moon? Not great; it is in the fifth house, which is not terribly strong, it opposes the Sun (and affliction to any planet because of the Sun’s burning beams), and has little dignity in 19 Pisces. Financially, Richelieu seems to have done just fine during the last third of his life, though he had spent vast sums of money on building his Palace in Paris, which was filled with major artistic treasures. The fifth house is the house of pleasure, so we see financial expenditures in that arena. Too, the moon suffers by the opposition to the Sun, which can mean the King’s money, or his ministers. Richelieu spent a lot of time and effort on quelling the various conspiracies against him, and it is unknown whether the King continued to reward him as generously as he had earlier in his career.

Then, if we wanted to know more specifically when Richelieu is great wealth would arrive, we would look at more time-the specific prediction methods. However, as an overall picture of the life, the triplicity rulers tell us quite a bit.

Astrology of Eclipses and Celebrities: Eclipses in the Chart of George W. Bush

September 19, 2006 by

astrologyeclipsehoroscopeapollodiana Astrology of Eclipses and Celebrities: Eclipses in the Chart of George W. Bush

Since we entered Eclipse season, and especially with the upcoming Solar Eclipse, I am getting lots of questions about how the Eclipses affect individuals’ horoscopes. So in this article, I will talk about the ways that the upcoming Eclipse may affect your own birth chart, and look at an example from a well-known person’s chart.

As you can tell from my previous posts about the Lunar Eclipse and the Solar Eclipse, any Eclipse will have some kind of effect on the greater affairs of the world. The medieval astrologer Cardan wrote: “Eclipses operate more forcibly on Cities, Provinces, and Kingdoms than on Particular persons of private condition, or even upon Kings and Princes, for their effects rather respect the multitude.” This is certainly true, but we can often find very major events happening in people’s lives after Eclipses that contact their own natal horoscope.

The problem is that Eclipses are like a raw infusion of power into a chart, and not many people are prepared to deal with them appropriately, so usually the person is the unwitting victim of something unpleasant. The solar energy will make itself known one way or another. This is where talking with your friendly astrologer can be extremely helpful, because they can tell you how best to carpe labores solis (“seize the Solar Eclipse”) for the most beneficial results.

An Eclipse will only make itself felt in your life if it closely contacts a sensitive point or planet in your own horoscope. Thus, for this upcoming Solar Eclipse, unless you have something important in your horoscope in the 29th degree of the common signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces), or thereabouts, you do not have to worry. If you find that something in your chart will be activated by the Eclipse, you should look at the function of that planet or point in your life, and you will be able to see what part of your life will be affected by the Eclipse and in what way.

Eclipses and the Famous: George W. Bush

The horoscope above belongs to George W. Bush. We will very often see Eclipses activate the charts of people in power shortly before they assume a position of authority. This brings us back to the essential message of the Eclipse: Act or be acted upon. Those in power are typically people who, for one reason or another, have chosen to act, and therefore can take advantage of Eclipses when the opportunity arises.

The Solar Partial Eclipse of July 31st, 2000, was visible in the northwest United States only (visibility in an area greatly enhances an Eclipse’s strength to act there), but this was apparently enough to give George Bush’s horoscope the “kick” it needed. The Eclipse occurred at 8 Leo, which falls right on George Bush’s Ascendant and Mercury. Needless to say, these are both highly sensitive points in the horoscope. Mercury rules the 11th house of hopes and good fortune, and was probably just the infusion of power that George Bush needed to become President.

Since becoming President, the other defining moment for George W. Bush has been September 11th. The Lunar Eclipse of July 5, 2001, was again only visible in the western United States, but that was enough. The Eclipse occurred at 13 Capricorn, and exactly opposed George Bush’s natal Sun in the 12th house. In his chart, the Sun rules the 1st house, signifying his personality and public image. September 11th, however problematic it was for the United States as a country, was a great boon to George Bush politically – his public approval ratings went through the roof and stayed there for quite a long time. Indeed, September 11th was without question THE defining moment of George Bush’s presidency, and was heralded by an Eclipse.
