Free Astrology Readings: Horary Astrology – “Will I Walk Again?”

St. Peter illustrating Free Astrology Readings: Horary Astrology – “Will I Walk Again?”

Horary Astrology Question:

When I was 3, I got leukemia and Guillian Barre Syndrome. I have been in remission from the leukemia, but I have been bound to a wheelchair since I was 5; I am 22 now. I just would like to know what my future holds for my ability to walk.

—V.

Nina Gryphon:

Dear V.,

I really sympathize with your situation. While there are certainly worse things that could happen, not being able to walk seems to me a particularly difficult cross to bear. Ultimately, regardless of what the astrology reading shows, I think it’s important to remember that everything, including this, is in the hands of the Divine.

The horoscope for your question is below:

Horoscope for Free Astrology Readings: Horary Astrology – “Will I Walk Again?”

Since this is a health reading, please remember that I am not a doctor, I do not play one on TV, this isn’t medical advice, and you should always listen to your physician first and foremost.

We first notice the late degree on the ascendant, indicating that you may be asking the question out of desperation, or because you do not see a way forward. The good news is that the ascendant is in Capricorn, a Cardinal sign, which implies lots of movement and change in the situation. Because your question is about being able to walk, and the existing situation changing, the more signs associated with movement we see, the better.

The ruler of the first house of self is Saturn, which is on the cusp of the eighth house. As I have noted before on this blog, a lot of the charts I get have important planets in the eighth house of fear, indicating the person’s anxious state of mind about the situation. With Saturn in a double sign, Virgo, we see that the situation may not be as cast in stone as it appears.

The significator of the illness is Mercury, ruler of the sign in which Saturn finds itself. Here, we see the real problem. Mercury is in a fixed sign, it is retrograde, and moving rather slowly. We see that the illness has a strong hold on you, and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. When we have a planet in a fixed sign that is also moving very slowly or is retrograde, such as this Mercury, it is the perfect image of being stuck. A traditional physician/astrologer would note that Mercury is in the first house of the head, indicating the possible origin of the disease.

Combined with Saturn moving backwards at the moment, I didn’t see any major catalysts in the near future, which is what we would need to see in order to reverse a long-standing conditions such as this. But also note the Moon, which is combust and applying to a conjunction with the Sun for the upcoming eclipse. This is certainly a sign that you cannot see the entire situation, and something of the truth may be hidden.

The combination of these testimonies indicates that while there may not be a dramatic improvement in your condition in the near future, we are still getting reminded that we are not meant to know all things, and that ours is not the last word on your problem. I think it is very important to be positive and to have hope, precisely because we realize that our human means allow us to only see a small sliver of reality. True reality is far more complex and benevolent than it may seem at a given moment.

As always, I like to ask that in return for your free reading, you update me (either by email, or in the comments on this page) on what happened. I don’t mind being wrong, but I like to learn from what I did well or badly.

The Gryphon Astrology Blog Is Back

May 7, 2007 by

Return from the Market

Well, I finally finished my 10 week legal project, and can now devote a lot more time to this blog. I had a lot of fun (yes, it’s possible to have fun as lawyer), and learned a great deal from this case, but I am super ultra excited to be back writing for the astrological community. A big thank you and hugs to all of those who wrote me during the last two months to see if I was still alive; I appreciate it a great deal.

A special welcome to those of you who are reading this after attending my talk in San Francisco on April 26. Thank you for attending and making the event such a success.

I haven’t been tending to my free reading requests queue in the last month, as the requests pile up faster than I can process them. I have modified the system such that unless you receive an e-mail from me saying you will get a free reading, it means the queue is full right now, and you may want to resubmit in a month or so.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Back from Vacation!

November 20, 2006 by

Dear Readers,

I am now officially back from vacation.  It was very restful and energizing, and gave me some great ideas about my new astrology web projects.  I am currently working on a major new project, and will let you know about it when it’s ready to go live.  In the meantime, I just want to say it’s good to be back.

As always, you can email me with any questions or comments at nina@gryphonastrology.com.

Horary Astrology: The Big Move

September 4, 2006 by

St Nicholas saves the ship

Dear Readers,

As you can see, I have decided to move the Gryphon Astrology blog to gryphonastrology.wordpress.com. Why? As I wanted to blog more often, I wanted a blog host with a little more flexibility and user-friendliness, such as the categories you can click on the left-hand side, which will bring up all the posts with those keywords. So set your bookmarks to here for frequent blogging on horary astrology, natal horoscopes and mundane astrology. Too, I think the visuals are rather spiffier and the text is easier to read.

Please enjoy, and let me know what you think of the changes.

My best,

Nina AKA Gryphon

To see whether it was appropriate to make the blog move, and whether the blog would be better off in its new home, I decided to cast a horary. Usually, I just charge right ahead, but I thought this might be entertaining.

Question: Will my blog be happier in its new home?

Here is the horary chart:

Horary Chart - Is it good to move my blog?

The blog is represented by my 5th house, because it is my “issue,” as William Lilly would call it, or my creation. Doesn’t matter whether it is animate or not. How is the blog right now? It is not very happy, as shown by the Moon in its detriment. Indeed, I feel it could be a lot better off in this new hosting service, what with more user-friendliness, categories galore, and so on. The Moon is on its way out of Capricorn, and will gain some essential dignity, or at least, lose the yuckiness of being detrimented in Capricorn. Too, in Capricorn, the blog is in the fall of Jupiter, Lord 1. It is a bit of a pain to maintain as it is, and I am always looking for new ways to minimize my work.

Will it be a good change, then? Yes. The blog will no longer harm me (by leaving Capricorn, it will leave Jupiter’s fall), and will improve in its new location.

Gryphon Is Back!

March 11, 2006 by

Hello everyone, I am very excited to be back after a longish pause of almost four months. During this time, much has happened, but I have certainly not given up on traditional astrology! On the less-momentous scale, I got a much-needed update of my AstroDatabank software (which I heartily recommend to anyone with an interest in natal astrology. They have now added a few features especially nice for a traditional astrologer).

Past and Future Astro-Adventures of the Fearless NG

A more thrilling escapade (more thrilling than updating my astro software, even) lay in store a few weeks ago, when I went to a fantastic workshop with John Frawley in San Francisco. The workshop was two days. The first day consisted of discussions of natal astrology, while the second day focused on fixed stars. It was a wonderful experience, both because it was super educational (where else can you get a traditional perspective on the astrological links between George W. Bush’s chart and that for Baghdad?), but also because the caliber of the attendees was simply top-notch. Many of the attendees came from outside the Bay Area, the farthest being a strange land known as New Jersey. I was impressed with everyone and my only regret was that I didn’t get to spend a few hours talking with each person there.

My next astro-adventure is John Frawley’s conference in Fulda, Germany in early May (you can read about it on his website), which promises to be great fun. The two lecturers are John himself, and Branka Stamenkovic, a traditional astrologer from Belgrade. My understanding is that Fulda has at least one Internet café, so I plan to blog the conference from there with some pictures of the proceedings (watch in amazement as John and Branka fearlessly tame a stable of wild and dangerous antiscia!). I really look forward to meeting the European contingent of traditional astrologers as well. Not to mention the shopping in Germany (insert Homer Simpson drooling noise here). Needless to say, if you’re going to Fulda for the conference, send me an email and introduce yourself.

Future Blog Articles

So, what’s ahead for us here on the Gryphon Astrology blog? Last time we ended with some talk about the Fixed Stars. I have since gotten deeper into this topic, and have acquired a few books on mythology to better help me understand the underlying myths. I have even begun reading a few of the said books. I will talk more about a few major Fixed Stars from a mythological perspective, to better clarify the relationship between the myths and the stars’ use in a chart. Since last November, I have accumulated a few horaries I would like to share with you as well, so I will bring those out as time permits. Finally, I have been doing a lot of reading of the ancient Greek philosophers, courtesy of that prolific and incredibly gifted 18th-century translator, Thomas Taylor. The Greeks spent a great deal of time thinking about spiritual matters, as well as the unseen world in general. One of the things I found fascinating, especially within an astrological context, is the existence of what the Greeks called “Guardian Daemon,” which was co-opted into Christianity as Guardian Angel. Finding the nature of this entity in a chart poses an interesting challenge, and I look forward to addressing it in an upcoming article. In the meantime, stay tuned and once again, it’s good to be back.

Free Horary Questions Answered Here Weekly

July 20, 2005 by

Okay, folks, you wore me down (y’all know who you are). Thanks for your enthusiasm. Starting next week (Friday July 29th 2005), I will be answering free horaries on this blog, one per week, more if I can. If I find I get more than one question per week, which has been the case in the past with similar ventures of mine (there was this time I got 38 questions in two days. Wow.), I will just take them first come first served.

This week, I will do one published horary to get the ball rolling, and in the meantime, you can send along your questions to be published next week.

Again, much love to all of you.

PS: That’s the one nice thing about an astrology blog. I don’t have to sweat blood and have a conniption fit, whatever that is, to update my website every time I want to add something. Aaahhh. The lazy woman’s Internet.
