Hi Luke,

You have a good point; and I’m sure there is no harm in stretching the 5 degree limit somewhat. We would have to look at the first third of Obama’s life, or even better, talk to him, and see what his life was like until age 25 or so.

I wish to clarify, though, that a chart can be diurnal even though the Sun is quite a bit below the horizon. For me, civil twilight (Sun less than 6 degrees under the horizon) is daylight. Some astrologers are even more lenient, and include nautical twilight (6-12 degrees below the horizon) as daytime.

Hello Nina,

You say it is a day-time-chart, which may be correct. But why don’t you count the Sun into the 7th, though it’s near the cusp? The Sun is from the cusp of the 7th five and a half degrees apart – only a little bit more than five degrees – which might also count the Sun into the 7th, if we regard the traditional 5°-rule. This would make the Sun angular and so signify Obama’s first third of life to be very good.
