Steve Fossett: Horary Astrology of Missing People
September 5th, 2007 at 2:32 pm (Celebrity Astrology)
The sudden disappearance of multi-millionaire record-setting aviator Steve Fossett has raised a lot of questions as to his whereabouts. Though searches for Fossett have been going on for days, no sign of him or his small airplane has been found. Ironically, Fossett has cheated death on riskier occassions, during his daredevil flight expeditions.
Horary Astrology Chart - Steve Fossett
As frequent readers of this blog know, I am very interested in the astrology of missing persons. Astrological techniques are effective to determine a person’s whereabouts and their condition. Though I rarely do this, I felt moved to use horary astrology to ask: “Is Steve Fossett dead or alive?” This horoscope is below:
Unfortunately, I fear the worst. Fossett is symbolized by the ruler of the 7th house of other people in general, Venus. Venus is right on the cusp of the turned 4th house, which rules all endings, and which seems to be very common in horoscopes having to do with missing persons. Venus’s position in itself, however, is not a complete testimony of death. The famed astrologer, William Lilly, says that a significator’s location in the 4th house only indicates death when there has been a long absence, the person was lost in remote parts, and/or there is strong external evidence pointing to death. Even though all of these factors are in play in Fossett’s case, I feel that we need corroborating evidence to be certain.
We do not have a separating aspect between the ruler of the radical or turned 8th houses of death, which would be the most obvious evidence. However, we do see that Venus has recently sextiled Mars in Gemini in the 8th house of death, and the Moon, also in the 8th house, has translated the light between Venus and Mars, recreating the aspect. This is strong evidence pointing to a violent death, since Mars rules violence, and it is in the air sign Gemini. Further, Mars rules the malefic 6th house (or the turned 12th house, which is just as bad). The Moon’s upcoming and last aspect in Gemini will be a square to Mercury, ruler of the 8th house. The Moon rules all missing things, especially live ones (animals and people). It doesn’t look good for Fossett.
Where is Steve Fossett?
With his significator, Venus, in the 10th house in Leo, our authorities tell us that this means he is on high ground (at the very top of the chart), in a place of wild beasts, the desert, steep and rocky terrain that is likely quite wild and inaccessible. No wonder he has not yet been found!
“Last Seen” Horoscope for Steve Fossett
My astrology contact in the Netherlands, Karin Verhoeve, emailed me this morning with her analysis of the situation. Karin cast a chart for the time and place that Fossett was last seen, and drew the conclusion that he died. I also looked at the horoscope, and to me, it is not nearly as terrible-looking as some other “missing persons” charts, though the most notable aspect is the immediate Venus sextile to Mars, which can never be too good.

Fascinating, Nina. The astrology speaks strongly, and I have a gut feeling you are correct in your assessment. I admire that you don’t shirk predictions for death. It’s a universal experience, after all, (death, that is), and I’ve long wondered about modern astrologers’ aversion to dealing with questions regarding death. It’s a sensitive area, of course, so one must be circumspect, but in certain situations, such as this one, it’s very appropriate.

Hi Linea!
It’s good to see you here again. Thank you very much for your kind words - I am so glad that you understand. I feel strongly that, as a society, we should talk about death out in the open - tactfully, of course. This is one experience that we all share, and my sense is that people used to be much more open about this in the past.

I too feel that Steve Fossett is dead. He took off from Yerington, NV. on
September 3, 2007 at 8 AM…that chart is not good. All those 28-degrees Mutable aspects, with Pluto in 26-degrees Sagittarius conjunct the 4th house of endings, and the Mercury 26-degrees Virgo in the 12; Mercury-Pluto squares are somewhat violent; Pluto opposes the MC and Mercury squares the 4th/10th houses. I felt he had a “heart attack.”

Hi Carole,
Thank you; that is very interesting. Some charts just have a “feel” to them that describes the whole situation. Karin Verhoeve also pointed out that the Mars and Venus sextile (in air and fire signs, respectively), showed an explosion in the air. Which might explain why his distress signal has not yet been found. But the explosion could have been in the heart as well.

I don’t know if you’ve seen this article yet, but it seems to provide some interesting techniques for locating missing people geographically.

Though missing people and locating them are not my specialty, I find it a fascinating subject just the same.
My prayers are with the loved ones of Mr. Fossett.

Isn’t it odd that pieces of the plane haven’t been found? There were massive search efforts conducted, yet no clues. It sounds very Neptunian to me.

I’ve learned so much from this discussion and your comments. Thanks to all of you. I, too, ran a “take-off” chart and was not encouraged. There is little support in the chart for a good outcome. My first thought was that he is well-hidden. We know that, now. And the Asc/Mercury conjunction square Pluto at the bottom, about to be opposed by the Moon — as if crossing Mars weren’t enough.
I don’t know enough about locating missing people but trying to learn!

Although your reading of the chart “feared the worst” I was interested, that nearly a year on, Steve Fossett or his plane have still not been found. There was an interesting article in today’s (1 August 2008) Independent (a leading UK national newspaper) concerning various theories that Mr Fossett may have faked is own death. If true perhaps that’s explains why the chart is not as “readable” as may have been expected.
