Horary Astrology: Free Horary Reading – “Moscow or Bogotá?”
July 7, 2007 by admin
Horary Question:
How good is for me to move from Bogota, Colombia to Moscow, Russia and establish my home there? I’m unhappy where I was born and live now. The professional prospects seem good but I don’t feel part of the community. Also I don’t find it atractive or interesting.

Nina Gryphon:
Dear M.,
Thank you for writing to me; I find horary to be very helpful in helping people decide whether to move. Though, often, the answer is: “It doesn’t matter a whole lot.” But let’s see what your horoscope says. I cast the horoscope for the moment that I understood your question, which is a method known as horary astrology. The horary chart for your question is below:
In this horary chart, the place where you currently live is represented by Mercury, ruler of the first house. Moscow, as the prospective home, is shown by Jupiter. Now Mercury is weak by sign, as it is in Cancer, and it is retrograde as well. However, it is angular, and in your house of career, so you are right, job opportunities may be better, though it’s far from ideal.
Moscow is not without its problems, but, on the whole, it looks better than Bogotá. Jupiter is in Sagittarius, so it’s in its own sign, and it is on the cusp of the fourth house, so there is a sense that Moscow could feel like home for you. Seeing it on the cusp of the fourth made me wonder if you have some ancestors or relatives from there. In any case, even though Jupiter is not as well-positioned, it is still inherently stronger than Mercury, so that is one argument for moving to Moscow. The fact that Jupiter is in a double sign suggests that you may do well splitting your time between the two places (perhaps going to Colombia in winter?).
I also like to look at the Moon in these situations. We see that it has just separated from a square to the Sun, which is not particularly strong by sign, due to its location in Cancer. With the Sun ruling your 12th house, I wonder if you have decided to make a clean break with the past for some reason.
The Moon next applies to a sextile with the Part of Fortune, which seems very positive, and argues for moving to Moscow.
To sum up, I believe that moving to Moscow would be somewhat better for you. The chart is not overwhelmingly positive in that direction, but there is enough difference between the two options that Moscow comes out ahead by a good margin. Whatever you do, good luck, and don’t forget to write!

Nina, why the first house to the present location ? I am not familiar with this method, I only did know the method of 4th house for present location and 7th for the new place.

Hi Yuzuru,
This is the method John Frawley teaches. I assume you’ve also consulted your Lilly before posting, right? He waves his arms about the 4th house, but when you get down to it, he analyzes moves as a contest between the 1st and 7th houses, as well as the planets to whom the Moon applies and from which it separates.
Warmly,
Nina
