Predictive Astrology: Summer 2007 Current Affairs
May 31st, 2007 at 4:07 pm (Current Events)
The astrology of politics and current events is fascinating indeed, and perhaps the toughest to get right, because there are so many influences happening at the same time. In this article, we will look at the major influences shaping up for the United States this summer.
The Aries ingress horoscope this year set for Washington, DC had a Cardinal ascendant, which means that we have to cast a new chart for every Cardinal ingress until the Aries ingress 2008.
The horoscope for the Sun’s entry into Cancer in Washington, DC is below:
The Lord of the year is the planet that is most strongly placed in the horoscope; in this case, that will be Mercury conjunct the midheaven. Mercury is very weak; it is Peregrine and retrograde/under the sunbeams. So the overall flavor of current events in Washington this summer will be problematic. Because Mercury is just outside the 10th house cusp (the house of the King, or in our case, the president), the problems will chiefly afflict the leadership of this country.
Mercury rules merchants, lawyers, politicians, and scribes/writers. It rules the ninth house, which is the house of secret enemies to the King (the 12th from the 10th). So the president/government will be afflicted by secret enemies who are merchants, lawyers, etc. this affliction may be in response to something the president or the government had done, as Mercury is in mutual reception with the ruler of the 10th house, the Moon. The president’s supporters, cabinet, or the Army will seek to stop the secret enemies, because the Sun, ruler of the president’s second house, afflicts Mercury.
So how is the King? The Moon is in the 12th house of secrets, Peregrine, and without aspects. He does not have very much power to act in the situation, though the mutual reception with Mercury suggests that true political disaster will not strike. At the very least, the leadership and the secret enemies are interdependent, creating a situation of mutually assured destruction.
I noted that Mars is in the seventh house in its own sign. The traditional authorities say that a strong and angular Mars in an ingress horoscope means war. Since we are already at war, we will be seeing more of it. This placement reminds me of the Mars in Scorpio in the seventh house in President Bush’s 2001 inauguration chart, which forecast the Iraq war.

hi, Nina,
i have an interest in political astrology and learned a lot from this post. It also reminds me of a mundane horary I drew up back in Oct. when i couldn’t sleep thinking about the prospects for a change in the Congress. Although i’ve been studying astrology for decades, i’m fairly new at traditional and horary techniques, so I would love to read your comments on this horary: What will bring about the end of this Administration? How will it leave power? Oct. 7, 2006, 8:44 am , Berkeley, CA
i think the underlying question really was: will they ever be held accountable by impeachment or otherwise? i just didn’t write it out that way.
All i could get out of it at the time was that it was weak, secretive and in trouble with scandals. This was during the congressional page sex scandal.
A few weeks ago i went back to it in light of the ongoing investigation of the Dept. of Justice. I think i can see the firing of State attorneys in the moon ruler of 9 in 6 separating from opposition with mars in libra ruler of 1 in 12.
Just out of curiosity i added some name asteroids–i know it’s not allowed in traditional—and it was a revelation. ‘George’ is conjunct the sun, ruler of 10 in 12. ‘Alberto’ and ‘Monica’ are conjunct the MC in Leo (they both happen to be Leos). ‘David’ as in Iglesias, the righteously angry fired State Attorney who is pushing the investigation the most is conjunct chiron (wounded) down near the IC in a wide conjunction.
If you are so inclined and have time, thanks for any comments you care to make,

Hi Micaela,
Thanks for visiting and writing. I don’t know a lot about asteroids, so I won’t be able to add much there. From what little I do know, I am concerned that if we use them, we find everything happening to everybody.
I took a quick look at the horary chart that you cast, and zeroed in on the Sun as ruler of the government. Now, the Sun in the chart is terribly afflicted: it is in its fall, in the malefic twelfth house…things could not be much worse. So that’s what we have to look for - will the Sun get better, or worse?
The Sun is slowly moving forward to conjoin a very malefic Mars in detriment in Libra (harming Sun even more because it’s also in the Sun’s detriment), and sextile malefic Saturn in the 10th. So things could certainly get worse for the administration. Mars and the Sun finally conjoin a few minutes before they both move into Scorpio. I would interpret this to mean that there will be some kind of public condemnation for them just before the end of the term. And I really mean *just* before. This Mars that harms/hates the Sun rules the 1st house (the people).
But we’ll see - this is a remarkably resilient administration. Many capable astrologers predicted all sorts of doom since 2000, and it has not come to pass.
Warmly,
Nina

hi Nina,
thanks so much for your comments and so quickly too! So the public condemnation near the end of term could simply be the Dems sweeping the elections.
I didn’t know that the 1st house represents the people in a mundane chart. I had thought it was just a snapshot of the general matter in question. The scorpio/12th combination seems like a good description of this bunch in office: secretive, resilient, powerful, eavesdropping, dirty-trick-playing .
What does the 7th ruler represent?–in it’s own sign in 12th applying conjunct sun, it looks important. Would it represent a dignified woman acting in secret? I’m just brainstorming here.
Does the 4th house represent the opposition party or the end of the matter or both in a mundane horary?
thanks,
micaela

Hi Micaela,
I wish I could give you the entire theory of mundane horoscopes right now, but I’m a little busy. Can I refer you to some reading material? For traditional house rulerships, check out William Lilly. For mundane astrological method, look at William Ramesey’s Astrologia Restaurata. Both books are extremely helpful in mundane astrological technique.
Warmly,
Nina
