Dear Jason,

I meant to reply, and then I just plain dropped the ball, so my apologies for that.

This is quite a lengthy topic, especially as applied in the natal context. To get you started thinking about this, let’s say that Jupiter rules your second house of wealth and the Sun rules the tenth of career. Say the Sun is in Cancer, exalting Jupiter. A very simplistic (but accurate) way of looking at it would be to say: your career (the Sun) is heavily influenced by (exaltation) the amount of money you will make (Jupiter). So you would be someone whose career choice would be intensely influenced by the financial rewards.

I recommend reading John Frawley’s Real Astrology books, and also Morinus, to really wrap your brain around this concept. It’s a very important notion in traditional astrology.

Warmly,
Nina

Hi again, Nina!

I posted this on an older post at the beginning of the month, but I thought I'd post it here. I just had a quick question. I noticed in other posts where you say that a planet in another’s exaltation, exalts that planet (i.e. Sun in Cancer exalts Jupiter). How does that flavor the interpretation in the natal chart? Would Sun support Jupiter in ruling his houses? Would Jupiter have some sort of rule over Sun and his houses? I think this is very interesting and something I’ve never run across.
