Thanks for blog. One thing you've turned me on to is noticing when a planet is strong via dignity and and "using" that vibe with the associated house it rules. looking backwards at  my life events, it becomes clear.
One funny observation i had was that  ALL my relationships, big and small, began during Suns exaltation in Aries. Sun Rules 7 in my chart. and as you also said..
"But such is the nature of exaltation, making things look a little bit better than they really are"...How true! forewarned is forarmed.  Maybe I'll focus on relationships when Sun is in Leo and thus see things as they really are! LOL
