Free Astrology Advice: Will I Ever Marry?
March 4th, 2007 at 7:41 pm (Free Astrology Readings)
Horary Question:
In 2000, I fell deeply in love with a man I thought I would marry and I also got my dream job. Unfortunately, both of these situations failed miserably after 9/11. I haven’t been in a serious relationship or a permanent job since — just lots of dating and lots of temping, despite putting tons of effort into both areas. : )
I think it is about time for me to have a change of luck, and since I would very much like to marry and have a family soon, I wonder when that will finally happen?

Nina Gryphon:
Dear S.,
As you can probably tell from reading the questions on my website, it seems like everyone in the world has the same problem, or at least a similar one. Maybe I am in the wrong business, and really should use this blog to provide introductions… but, I digress. Horary astrology is an excellent tool to learn when you will get married, even though it is better to look at the natal chart, horary will usually give us a pretty good rough estimate. The horary chart for your question is below:
You are shown by ruler of the first house, Mercury, which is in Aquarius, retrograde in the sixth house. Mercury also rules the Part of Marriage, which is at 7° of Virgo. Mercury has recently retrograde back from Pisces, where it was in its own detriment and fall, indicating a situation where you were unhappy in the past and/or didn’t wish to marry. But, you have obviously changed your mind. The Moon, showing your emotions, is also in Virgo, indicating that you are very interested in marriage at the moment, and also are rethinking your priorities. Your feminine “must find a man” side is shown by Venus in Aries. Venus is in the seventh house of relationships, so we can see that again, in general, you are ready for a relationship.
Your potential husband is shown by the ruler of the seventh house, Jupiter in Sagittarius. Jupiter in Sagittarius is wonderful to see, because he is very powerful here, except that he is in the detriment of Mercury. So we have a sense here that the man you will have the opportunity to marry is very interested in himself, and may not be very interested in marriage. His co-significator, the Sun, showing that aspect of him which also wants to find a mate, is shown by the Sun in Pisces. In Pisces, the Sun hates whatever Mercury represents (most likely marriage, since presumably you do not know him yet), but he exalts Venus, showing that he does want a partner. We see that Venus and Jupiter will form a trine aspect in about 4°, indicating that an opportunity to marry him will arise in four somethings (I would imagine years, but feel free to prove me wrong and get the proposal in four months).
As far as kids are concerned, the chart does not show it to be an absolute dealbreaker, but neither does it show you brimming over with fertility. I do not love the ruler of your fifth house of children in a barren sign (Saturn in Leo), afflicting the spouse’s house of fertility. The Moon is also in the barren sign of Virgo. However, both Venus and Mercury are in semi-fertile sign, so there is some hope, and I wouldn’t rule out a child in the future. The safer thing to do may be to try fertility treatment but don’t go overboard if it doesn’t work out the first time, and consider other options.
