Astrological Predictions for 2007: Jupiter in Sagittarius Trine Saturn in Leo

Old Friends

Last year, we saw the dramatic political effects of Jupiter squaring Saturn, and we saw that the conservative era ushered in during the 2000 elections was crashing and burning early. To recap very quickly, Jupiter and Saturn conjunct every 20 years, an event known as the Grand Conjunction. This sets the tone for the next 20 years, especially in political and world affairs.

During those 20 years, Jupiter and Saturn form additional aspects to one another, with the square aspect representing a challenge to the original seedling idea planted during the conjunction. This is the astrological reason that the Republicans lost control of Congress so dramatically in 2006. Their organization simply was not strong and resilient enough to withstand the challenges represented by the difficult square aspect. If they had been able to hold on last year, they would not have faced difficulties until the next decade, when Jupiter would oppose Saturn.

This year, we will see Jupiter trine Saturn, an aspect showing the harmonious growth of the idea formed during the conjunction. The 2000 conjunction was not auspicious for the United States, as it occurred in the 12th house of self undoing in the pre-1776 Grand Conjunction chart. The 12th house represents us harming ourselves, as well as secret enemies who undermine us through hidden means. As a result, we will see a great deal of internal strife, none of which is conducive to the growth of the country.

The 2000 conjunction is not all bad, however, as it sextiled Venus in Pisces and the Part of Fortune in the 11th house of friends and the King’s advisors. So there is some hope that allies and cabinet members can help us get out of the soup into which we have gotten ourselves. Jupiter trine Saturn this year indicates that 2007 heralds opportunities to improve our situation, and can allow others to help us do so.

Whether our government will actually take that opportunity depends largely on upcoming eclipses and lunations, which we will cover on this website as they come up.

The Jupiter-Saturn relationship is reflected in our personal lives as well, since every 20 years, the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction plants a seed in our natal horoscope which we then develop for the next 20 years. Just like with world events, we face challenges during the difficult aspects, and easier times with a sextile and trine aspects. To understand your personal meaning of Jupiter-Saturn in 2007, look at where the Grand Conjunction of 2000 took place in your horoscope, and consider how the square, trine, and opposition aspects are reflecting your own development.
