phaeton saturn four seasons Astrological Predictions for 2007 – Saturn in Leo/Saturn in Virgo

Saturn will move into Virgo on September 3, 2007.

For the last two years or so, the slowest and heaviest planet, Saturn, has been passing through the sign of Leo. In Leo, Saturn is very weak — it is in the sign of its detriment. This is because Saturn rules the opposite sign, Aquarius, so in Leo, Saturn is exactly at the opposite end from its home.

Saturn is not an easy planet to deal with at any time. Even people who have a strong natal Saturn in Capricorn, Aquarius, or Libra (signs where Saturn is very strong), are always complaining about how unpleasant Saturn can be. And this is Saturn when he is happy! So you can imagine just how unpleasant Saturn is when it is in an inhospitable sign like Leo.

Why is Saturn so unhappy in Leo? Leo is a hot, dry and barren sign. These qualities are inimical to Saturn, which is considered moist, and above all else, very cold. Putting Saturn in Leo is sort of like dropping an ice cube into a roaring fire — the ice cube will not do too well. Also, Leo is a fixed sign, creating a fire that is very difficult to put out, as it is lasting. So Saturn is extremely uncomfortable in the sign of Leo.

What does this mean for you? If Saturn rules any important houses in your chart, you’ll find that undertaking projects involving matter is ruled by those houses will be a lot easier once Saturn exits Leo and moves into Virgo in September. As an example, if Saturn rules your 10th house of career, and you wish to look for a new job, starting in September would be more productive than starting now.

Saturn will station at 8° Virgo on December 19th, 2007.

However, Saturn will turn retrograde in Virgo in December, so using the above example, you may want to start your job search well before the retrograde date. No planet is happy when it is retrograde, as it is moving backwards.

If you would like to have your horoscope analyzed to find the best possible time to start a new project, you may wish to schedule a private reading with me. The details and prices are at the Gryphon Astrology website.

    Hi Naveed,

Female Leos are tough (well, male Leos are, too :-) ). They can forgive a lot, but not everything. Did you do something really bad? Would you take you back?

    Warmly,
    Nina

    Hi,

Many websites who use Hindu (Indian) astrology have mentioned that saturn has entered Leo on 1st Nov. 2006 and is going to be there till 9th Sept. 2009.(Check, for example, http://astrospeak.indiatimes.com/articleshow/253148.cms) Whereas some sites say it is going to move into Virgo in Sept. 2007 itself. What is the reason for this discrepancy?

Okay let me answer a few questions since Im an anstrologer myself. First to answer Gautam. No Gautum you have confused yourself with two methods. Western astrology focuses its analysis on the positioning of the sun. and Indian astrology with the positioning of the moon. According to hindu astrology, Saturn has entered Leo in July 2007 – but dont forget that hindu astrology places each sign onto each person based on the initials. So according to hindu astrology Leos are those people with initials M and T. You can do further research and look into this. According to western astrology, if you are born between July 22- Aug22 (approx) you are a full fledged leo and yes Saturn has been in your sign from July 16 2005 and will leave by Sept 2/3 2007 (from the 1st house and move to the 2nd). But 1st house Saturn placement is the hardest. So its freedom for you leos ! (including myself!) – and Virgo’s will have Saturn enter their sign on 2nd/3rd Sept.

Now to answer Antonio’s question – no Antonio you are a full fledged Virgo. Saturn will enter your sign this year September and leave in 2009! But you have an advantage. Saturn is better off in the sign of Virgo – afterall its an earth sign – practical, careful and traditional – all of which are Saturn’s favourite traits! So you will need to stick to what you’re best at and also dont forget to do some charity. Saturn appreciates that.

    Hi Bhavnaa,

Far be it from me to rain on a Leo’s parade, but I would like to set a few things straight:

    1. I have little understanding of Indian astrology, but I always thought it was based on date/time/place of birth, not one’s name. That can’t be right. If it’s based on your name, it’s not astrology (the study of the stars, literally). Also, the reason for the signs being different is the Western astrologers use the tropical zodiac, whereas the Indian astrologers use the sidereal zodiac.

    2. Saturn is not happy in Virgo. Please do not assert that, as it is patently untrue. Saturn is unhappy in Leo, the sign of its detriment, and neutral in Virgo, where it has minor dignity for a few degrees. Moreover, even if Saturn was in one of its signs, say, Capricorn, where it is ostensibly happy, you can bet Capricorns would have as tough a time of it as anyone else. That, of course, assuming that transits were the best way to forecast the future, which they are not (and I *know* that is not how Indian astrology works, either).

I have had a terrible period with saturn in leo, just wondering how I will fare with saturn in virgo when i have Venus and Mars in Virgo?

    Hi JDH,

You can relax :) Just about anyone will feel it when Saturn opposes their Sun. Typically, Mars and Venus are less obviously impacted by negative transits. Now, if Mars or Venus rules your first house (i.e.: you have Aries, Scorpio, Taurus, or Libra rising), then you might experience Saturn yuckiness, but don’t worry about it too much. As I always say: Transits are at the bottom of the astrological pecking order – other problematic things have to be in place in order for transits to affect you negatively.

Hi, this is coming back to what Nina said (Aug 4th). Yes, Indian astrology is based on an individual’s date, time and place of birth which is then used to decipher the person’s initial. I mentioned that here earlier since most of the visitors on this site are laymen, which is why I tried to make it as easy as it is to get them to understand which “initials” are “what” signs according to vedic astrology.

coming to the 2nd point, no sign is happy with Saturn transitting over their 1st house. Yet, what I meant to say was that it is “slighty” more at comfort in the earthly sign of Virgo as compared to when it is the fiery sign of Leo (where it is at utter discomfort).
This does not mean that Saturn wont be harsh here, but its an astrologers job to be a little more subtle when it comes to predicting tough times.

And lastly, transits are never a good way of predicting the future; nevertheless they play a very important part in anyones life.

Yet, transits should be taken into consideration with natal positionings and then a final outcome should be assumed.
