Question:

Three months ago I “met” a man over the Internet and we are in a relationship; he’s planing to come to my place in December so we could meet each other and see what happens between us. Since we both are adults we are taking things slow but everything seems fine. I would like to know how you see this relationship. Could it be a long term one? He says he’s looking for that and I would want the same. Another thing I would like to know is if we could have a child together at some point. I already have a kid from my previous marriage. He doesn’t have kids but wants them and the truth is I would like to have another kid also.

Dear C.,

Thanks for sending in your question. Sometimes people ask me when they are going to meet their soul mate and all but want me to produce one for them. I think more realistically, astrology can tell you whether the man is a saint or a serial killer, or whether he is just okay, the last being the most likely. Too, we can see whether your feelings will change in the future or his feelings will change, which will give us a hint as to whether the relationship can last.

I cast a chart for the moment I understood your question, which is a method known as horary astrology. This method is based on the idea that the answer to a question is contained in the horoscope cast for the moment of the question. The chart for your question is below:

You are shown by Venus which is in Virgo in the 12th house, and the Moon, which is in Libra in the first house. Venus is in its fall, and it is on the 12th house of self undoing, which gives us the sense of grasping after straws here. But if we waited until we were in the perfect place to allow us to start a relationship, we would never start one. I do not love the fact that Venus is applying to conjunction of the South node, which is very malefic, so that would be one piece of evidence against this relationship being a good long-term bet. However, if you look at the Moon, we do see that it is conjunct the very benefic and protective star Spica. Even here, however, the testimony is not entirely positive. The Moon is void of course, which means that it will make no further aspects to any other planet before it leaves its current sign. Usually, void of course means nothing will happen. But this testimony can be overridden by convincing contrary evidence.

We see the man is ruled by Mars, ruler of your seventh house of partners, and the Sun. Both of the planets are in Libra, so the man is very interested in you, as the planets are in a sign ruled by your planet, Venus. The only challenge here is that both Mars and the Sun are very weak in Libra; the Sun is in its fall there and Mars is in its detriment. So there is a sense that he is very interested in you, but he may not be able to deliver on the initial promise. I’m also a little bit concerned that we don’t have a lot of fixed signs prominent in this chart. If we are asking about whether a situation will last, we’ll want to see either Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius prominent. Here, we get predominately Cardinal signs, which may be a hint that the situation starts strong but peters out in the long-term.

The thing that I am curious about, and this is something that you didn’t address in your question is that neither the Moon nor Venus seem very interested in the man’s planets. It could be because you are predominantly interested in your own emotional security here and it’s really not that much about him. To be fair, you haven’t yet met the guy, and the Moon is moving from Libra into Scorpio, which is Mars’s sign. So there is a sense that you will get emotionally interested in him much more than you are now.

Finally, asked whether you would have kids together. Your fifth house is ruled by Saturn, which is in the barren sign of Leo. So that is one argument against kids. His fifth house (the radical 11th) has this barren Saturn in it, which is not a positive sign for children from his end, either. Also, none of your or his significators is aspecting Saturn, so I would not think that pregnancy is imminent for you.
