Free Astrology Advice - Horary Astrology: Will My Hands Make It?
October 5th, 2006 at 1:47 am (Free Astrology Readings)
Question:
I am a full-time student in court reporting school, and I love it. I have about another year-and-a-half left to go. Here is my dilemma: I have been supporting myself working as a massage therapist (I enjoy that as well) but my hands have started giving me problems. I’m really scared! I was counting on my income as a masseuse to get me through school. Will I make it? I’m not trained to do much else. I’m hoping this is just a temporary set-back.

Nina Gryphon:
Dear M.,
I sympathize with your situation, and as someone who makes their living through writing and speaking, I always wonder at how difficult it is for people who make a living with their bodies. I know a man who is a sports instructor who does not go on any sports vacations (such as ski trips) for fear of being injured and rendered unable to work. And that is why I understand that your hands are your income, so if they are out of commission, you don’t make money.
With questions related to well-being, I always recommend that you listen to your doctor first and foremost, or another qualified practitioner. I’m not a physician, obviously.
As always, I set a horoscope for the moment I received your question. This is a technique known as horary astrology, in which the horoscope set for the time of the question contains the answer. The horoscope chart is below:
First, we have to see how you are doing overall. I see that the star Algol is right on the ascendant, which is the star associated with losing one’s head. I have yet to see a horary chart in which this is literal, and usually it indicates that the client is in a panic. That is, they have lost their head, metaphorically speaking. So, the first word of advice would be to calm down, and not worry too much.
Venus, ruler of the ascendant is not doing very well, because it is in its sign of fall, and it is also in the sign contrary to its own nature. Venus is a hot and moist planet; Virgo is cold and dry, so obviously something is wrong. Why is Venus in such bad shape? Because it is in Virgo, the sign of Mercury. Mercury will then represent your illness. Mercury is in Libra, a Cardinal sign, showing the illness will be short, though possibly acute, as Mercury is about to conjunct Mars. Too, Venus herself in a mutable sign makes me think the problem will come and go for a while.
Also, let us see what is going to happen with your hands themselves. The third house rules the shoulders, arms, and hands. If we see a horoscope as a bodily continuum, the shoulders would be at the start of the third house, while the hands will be toward the end of the third house. Therefore, the hands in the chart will be ruled by the Sun, ruler of the fourth cusp. How is the Sun? Not great. It is a hot and dry planet in a cold and dry sign, Virgo, where it has little essential dignity. Like Venus, it is naturally influenced by Mercury, which rules Virgo. The Sun is about to conjoin the malefic South node, indicating, similar to Mars above, that things may get a little but worse before they get better. Because the Sun is also in a mutable sign, like Venus, we get yet another testimony of a problem that keeps coming and going.
This is why I would highly recommend finding something to supplement your income in the near future while this thing comes and goes. It may cause fluctuations in your income, at least for the short term. I do not think that the problems will last a terribly long time, but you should take it easy for a while, especially if something more acute is on the horizon.

my birthday is 3-9-1951, my son’s is 8-21-1979 and his girlfriend’s is 12-21-1977. do you see them getting married in the next two years? my time is 8:55pm, son’s is 7:55pm and friend’s is 12:30 am. probably due to karma this whole thing has been a fiasco and would like to know if there is a resolution in sight, thank you.
