Celebrity Astrology: Steve Irwin’s Horoscope

Steve Irwin - Crocodile Hunter. The crocodile hunt by Rubens.
It is with great sadness that I heard about Steve Irwin’s death on Monday. His love of nature and his ability to convey his passion for the environment to millions of people was very special. And yet, watching Irwin’s antics around some of the world’s most dangerous animals, I could not help but wonder - how long could he cheat death? The answer, as always, lies in Steve Irwin’s horoscope.

While we do not have Steve Irwin’s birthtime, we can always use his horoscope set for noontime. This is perfectly appropriate when we wish to learn more about someone’s public persona. Understanding the astrological causes of Steve Irwin’s death falls neatly into this category, without us needing to pry into his private life.

Steve Irwin’s noontime horoscope is set for February 22, 1962, noon, Essendon, Australia.

Steve Irwin Horoscope - Crocodile Hunter

Mars in Aquarius: The Crocodile Hunter
Crocodiles are traditionally ruled by Saturn (because they are nasty-looking lizard creatures) and the Sun (because they are the king of the lizard kingdom and live in hot climates). In Steve Irwin’s horoscope, Saturn is the strongest planet in the chart because it is in its own sign, Aquarius. More than that, four other planets are in strong Saturn dignities: Jupiter, Mars and Mercury are in Aquarius, while the Moon is in Libra and thus in Saturn’s exaltation. Because Saturn is so strong in this chart, it will act primarily as a goodie in Steve Irwin’s life. But once a malefic, always a malefic, and a strong Saturn will kill one just as dead as a weak one. We would also keep an eye out for Mars, another malefic, not nearly as strong as Saturn, and thus much more likely to cause Steve Irwin to run into trouble. Mars is the planet of the hunter, in a Saturn sign; of course Steve Irwin could only be the Crocodile Hunter. Finally, Jupiter can also cause problems, since it rules the 8th house of death. In astrology, this makes Jupiter anareta, the killing planet, that can add to testimonies of death.

Steve Irwin’s Horosope: 2006 Solar Return
Steve Irwin’s Solar Return for this year looks pretty problematic. Mars, weak in Gemini, squares the Sun (the lifegiver) from the 5th house of fun, creativity, and children. If Steve Irwin had come to us before his death, we would have said that it is especially important to be careful of violent accidents while working on creative projects. Since Steve Irwin died while filming a new nature feature, we can see that the promise of the Solar Return was sadly fulfilled.

Saturn in Leo (in its detriment, so very malefic) is angular on the 7th cusp, and afflicts the Moon. The Moon, to a lesser extent than the Sun, gives life. Here is another potential pitfall. Saturn rules the Solar Return 12th house of wild animals. Given Steve Irwin’s career, we would again have enjoined him to be very careful.

Meanwhile, Jupiter, the anareta (killing planet), sextiles Venus, the Lord of Steve Irwin’s natal Ascendant, a symbol of Steve Irwin’s body in the chart. The horrible mutual reception between the Jupiter and Venus is just icing on the cake; the two planets receive each other into their detriment and fall, harming and hating one another. Jupiter is a moist planet in a moist sign, suggesting a watery kind of death.

Well, darn it! I just discovered on further digging into your lovely website that we don’t have Steve’s birthtime. I have been doing the same thing as you with my website, and that is putting in beautiful art. You have done such a wonderful job it. Hats off!

You can bet your bottom dollar I’m going to be prowling around in here, stealing every idea I can from you.

There are two praying mantis on my window screen here, one outside the house, and the other inside. I find them intriguing. They seem to think, certainly have an intelligence. The indoors guy will probably live with me well into our frigid winter. I live in Idaho, US, at above 43°N. and a mile above the ocean.

Just a question I thought Feb.22 was Pisces. It starts at Feb.19-Mar.20. whereas Aquarius starts Jan20-Feb.18. So that would make steve irwin a pisces.

    Dear Piper,

That’s exactly right. If you look at his horoscope above, his Sun is at 2 Pisces. His other planets are in other signs. Did I manage to say something different somewhere?

    Thank you!

steves chart,… i knew about the time of his passing that the big saturn-neptune opp..was coming into full swing, and when i saw all that aquarius in steves chart i knew neptune ( the WATER CARRIER) was, conjunt his mars, south node…and few more of his planets..and hey how about saturn …opposite all of that in leo (THE HEART).!!..perhaps his work will flurish..i have nooo doubt. i must also add that this was a very very sweet and kind man, a treasure for all spirits on every level! (ven conj sun !)

I thought I remembered StarIQ having something on Steve, and here it is - in the quotes:

“Steve Irwin was born with Sun in sensitive Pisces (February 22, 1962; 1:00 am**; Essendon, Australia), and conjunct the first magnitude star Fomalhaut, which means “fish’s mouth”. This bright reddish star brings fortune and power (Ted Kennedy and George Washington were also born on February 22), but when conjunct the Sun carries the “danger of bites from venomous creatures” (according to astrologer Vivian Robson).

Factor in Steve’s eccentric, death-defying character (Sun opposite Uranus and Pluto) and his adventurous spirit (Mars conjunct Jupiter), and we get a man renowned for challenging fate. Predicting an early death is taboo in astrological circles, however, astrologer Richard Houck did just that in his book The Astrology of Death. The main clues involve simultaneous activation of the lunar nodes, the Fourth House cusp (endings), and surprisingly, Jupiter. Jupiter, as the traveling planet, brings the ultimate trip.

Many astrologers have already pointed out that transiting Saturn and Neptune were right on his Lunar Node axis when he died. Then, transiting Jupiter was exactly conjunct his deceptive Neptune in stinging Scorpio. And, transiting Uranus was very near his Fourth House cusp, bringing a sudden and unexpected ending. With his progressed Jupiter exactly conjunct his Sun, Steve Irwin had achieved his life’s purpose.

**This birth time should be considered a ballpark figure, and comes to me through Australian astrologer Milton Black: “I wrote to Steve a number of years ago, and he thought it was very early in the morning, around 1:00 am”. ”

For what it’s worth…? ;-) The chart showed Cap rising, at 00 degrees & change, but perhaps a late degee of Sag is possible? It’s not very reliable info anyway, but I thought I’d let you know.

This article on Steve is amazing. My Son Troy is going to Thailand 10/2/08 - 3/3/08. His birthdate 16/8/1987 at 7.37pm. Melbourne Australia. I am worried at Nepturn will cusp the 12th and square his stelium in the 6th. Uranus is exact on his asc. My birthdate 21/1/55 at 10.25pm
Melbourne. Can you help with advice? Can I order an interpretation?
